Is Your Pain Worth It?

Pain is inevitable. It hits those who are stuck in the material loop. And it also strikes those who are on the return journey towards the centre. But most of us on the spiritual path like to keep our feet in both these planes. We travel towards the centre not in a straight line, but in concentric circles. So when pain hits us, how do we know if it belongs to the material plane or the spiritual plane?

Maybe, pain is a compulsory litmus test that God designed to help us determine where we stand? In the material plane, pain is an outcome of disharmony and misalignment with our true nature. And the symptoms arrive in the form of lower emotions like hurt, resentment, anger, and envy.

But in the spiritual plane, pain is simply a reminder that something needs correction – that ‘something’ could be our beliefs, thoughts, or actions. It reinforces our passion and commitment to improve and evolve. In the spiritual plane, pain is the price that we must pay for transformation, just like the heat that must be applied to convert water into steam.

Pain might originate in the material plane, but with a change in perspective, we could use its transformational energy in the spiritual plane. The only question that matters is – are we moving towards or away from the centre? And that is the litmus test.
