The Principle of Intent

The Law of Diminishing Intent says that the longer you wait to take an action, the less likely you will be able to take it. Jim Rohn originally noticed this phenomenon and coined the term. It means, the longer you wait to implement a new idea or strategy, the less enthusiasm you will have for it. And that is the Pralay (destruction) that Sant Kabir Das Ji has referred to in his popular couplet:

काल करे सो आज कर, आज करे सो अब ।

पल में परलय होएगी, बहुरि करेगा कब ॥

Check within, are your ideas or self-commitments dying too often? If yes, know that your consciousness is shrinking with every dying idea or commitment. So, act cautiously. Live on the principle of under-commitment and over-delivery. Because even if you don’t reveal your commitment to anyone else, your inner self knows it. Failure to meet it causes guilt, which scales down your consciousness.

An idea without execution is nothing more than delusion. And a commitment without fulfilment is a sure way to shrink your consciousness. Think wisely and act mindfully.
