How Can Meditation Help You Master Your Energies?

Mastering the energies

Meditation does not belong to any religion or sect. It is the universal language of raising one’s energy.

— Sri Guru

Life is a river of unpredictability. One moment, you could be passing through a picturesque field, blooming with the most perfect blend of colors. And the very next moment, you could find yourself in rocky terrain, filled with harsh and dangerous turns.

The circumstances of every individual might differ, but the underlying unpredictability remains the same. Yet, we see differences in the way people deal with this ever-changing flow. Some desperately try to swim against it, constantly colliding with the hurdles on the way. Others flow with the flow, providing minimum resistance. And then there’s a third kind, a rare breed, that becomes the flow, carrying along everything that surrenders to its course.

Why are some content and happy with two meals a day and a roof over their heads, while others live depressed in homes that are nothing short of palaces? Why do some become living corpses after a traumatic event, while others use suffering as the springboard to reach heights that were previously unthinkable, let alone attainable?

What causes these differences? Mindset? Willpower? The delicate interplay between destiny and free-will, maybe? Yes, all of them play crucial roles in determining a person’s response to their unique situations. But these traits are also subordinate to the highest ranked officer that captains the human ship.

Energy Zones

This Universe is a play of energy, a theme repeated in many of our blogs. From the smallest particle to the largest black hole, everything is energy, and everything is sustained by energy. This is true for the human body as well. Energy runs each and every cell of the body, but it is present in concentrated form in 7 energy centers, known as Chakras. These centers can be divided into 3 primary zones – Zone 1 (Lower), Zone 2 (Middle), and Zone 3 (Higher). In every human being, the zone which contains the maximum energy, ends up dominating the person’s emotions, thoughts, and experience of life and God.

Energy Zones

Lower Energy Zone (Zone 1)

People with their energies concentrated in this zone have a fairly negative outlook towards life.

  • Fear and disappointment eclipse their life view
  • They are either non-believers, or think of God as someone who judges their actions and hands out rewards and punishments accordingly.
  • For every undesirable circumstance, they find something or someone to blame – a person, a situation, or the Law of Karma (the default, if nothing else fits).
  • Their life is based upon the process of elimination – they eliminate things, people and situations that they find difficult getting along with.

Middle Energy Zone (Zone 2)

Those who have a ‘why’ to live, can bear with almost any ‘how’”, writes psychiatrist Viktor E. Frankl in his riveting book – Man’s Search For Meaning. People who raise their energies from the lower zone to the middle zone are able to find their ‘why’.

  • They have a sense of purpose that keeps them inspired, giving them the strength to battle through adversities.
  • They believe in a God or Higher Power that has infinite love and forgiveness.
  • They don’t blame their circumstances on any external factor, but remain unsure and confused about the cause behind all the challenges and failures they endure.
  • Their life is based upon a feeling of empowerment and inclusivity – their sense of purpose is not limited to themselves or their family, but includes the well-being of the larger community.

Higher Energy Zone (Zone 3)

This is the energy zone where the ultimate experience of life becomes possible. People in this zone live exemplary lives – working towards the well-being of all of creation, helping many others raise their energy zones, and setting a benchmark for the rest of humanity.

  • They consider everything in life as being perfect – a perspective that stands the test of time and external circumstances.
  • They are able to experience the interconnectedness of creation, seeing God (or Energy) as the substratum of everything that our senses can perceive.
  • They take responsibility for every situation in life, fully aware of the fact that they are masters of their own destiny.
  • Their life is based on the highest goal of Self-realization. Initially, their actions are directed towards that goal. And once it is attained, their actions originate from the passion and compassion to help others achieve the same goal.

Meditation – The Elevator to Jump Energy Zones

It isn’t the case that different individuals belong to different energy zones. Even the same person can switch between energy zones – often several times in the same day. But these alterations are unintentional, mood-dependent, and transient – you do a small act of kindness and move up an energy zone, but the beneficiary of your kindness doesn’t express enough gratitude, and you’re back where you started. The most certain and long-lasting way to raise your energy from lower to higher zones is through Yogic meditation techniques

At SRM, Prana Kriya is a preliminary meditation technique that increases your energy levels through abundant inhalation of Prana (Life Energy). It jolts you up from the base state of inertia in Zone 1, and raises you to Zone 2. To move from Zone 2 to Zone 3, there is another Yogic technique – SwaRaj Kriya. Through its powerful impact on all 7 energy centers, the Kriya has transformed the lives of thousands of seekers.

The best thing that could have happened to you in your life, has already happened – you have a human body, an immaculate apparatus to experience the highest possible state of living. Meditation is the user’s manual. Use it, and witness the miracle that is your life!
