असत्य में से, प्रभु परम सत्य में ले जा
गहन अंधतमस से, प्रभु परम तेज में ले जा
महामृत्यु में से, परम जीवन में नाथ ले जा
जिया अब तक तुझ बिन, तुझ दर्श के दान दे जा…
Translated in Hindi by Sri Guru, this prayer has been derived from the sacred Sanskrit verses given in the Brihadaranyaka Upanishad (बृहदारण्यक उपनिषद):
ॐ असतो मा सद्गमय ( Om Asato Ma Sadgamaya)
तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय (Tamaso Ma Jyotirgamaya)
मृत्योर्मा अमृतं गमय (Mrityorma Amritamgamaya)
Recommended for daily listening and reciting, these meditative verses convey a seeker’s yearning for Guru’s auspicious Darshan. For a Guru’s transformative presence is what drives away the dark clouds of ignorance. It is what eliminates all that invites suffering. It is what enlightens one’s life with virtues such as wisdom and awareness. It is what invokes true happiness, peace and contentment within. Realising this, a seeker adheres to the words of this prayer.
