Celebrating the Festival of Vaisakhi

Vaisakhi marks the beginning of the Vaisakha month, as per the Hindu Vikram Samvat calendar as well as the Sikh New Year. Since the year 1699, this day commemorates the coronation of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth Guru of the Sikhs. It also marks the historic formation of the Khalsa Panth – the order of the Pure ones, initiated by Guru Gobind Singh Ji to uphold and safeguard the Sikh tradition.

Vaisakhi is popularly celebrated as the spring harvest festival across the country. On this joyous occasion, people pray for abundance & prosperity by taking part in cultural fairs and community activities, singing sacred hymns and Kirtan at Gurdwaras and many events showcasing folk dances & music.

It is truly a day of new beginnings, with a lot of historical, religious and cultural significance.

Let us all salute the spirit of harvest pruning away our vices and pay tribute to the courageous ones who never left their virtues even for the fear of life..!
